Animal Racing

Animal Racing

If the race involves animals whether they are alone or there are riders or they are in a form of transportation, then it falls under the category of animal racing.

Camel racing
This is only popular in places where there are camels which are in Arab States and Australia. Apparently, camels can run as fast as 65 kilometers per hour in short sprints and they can keep up a speed of 40 kilometers per hour for an hour. Camel Cup is one of the major camel races in Australia. It takes place at Alice Springs and it is a yearly event that attracts tourists whose interests includes betting.

Pig racing
This is one animal race that is solely for entertainment. Pig racing is a sport where the participants are pigs. Imagine these pinkish animals wearing colorful “jerseys” racing around an enclosed dirt or gravel track. This event is sort of a tradition in the southern part of United States particularly in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Snail racing
And you thought animal racing is for fast animals only. Snail racing is not some obscure sport. It is simple and there are already a number of events that were held in all parts of the globe. It is basically a speed competition among snails that takes place on a circular track with the participants starting in the middle. The finish line is the perimeter of the circle with a radius of 13 to 14 inches. Jerseys are unlikely so racing numbers are painted on the shells in order to set the competitors apart.
