If the race only involves the muscles in the human body, then it falls under the category of unassisted human racing.
Cross country running
It is a sport in which teams of runners compete to finish a course over open or rough terrain. Of course, the fastest team wins the race. The courses in this kind of event usually include mud, woodlands, grass, and water. Cross country running is regarded as a well-liked participatory sport and it normally happens in temperate regions throughout the autumn and winter.
Marathon
It is a long-distance running event. This race got its name from the famous run of Pheidippides, the Greek soldier who acted as a messenger from the Battle of Marathon to Athens. This running event was one of the first Olympic events way back in 1896. The official distance of a marathon since 1921 is 26 miles or 385 yards or 42.195 kilometers.
Racewalking
It is a long-distance event but it is slightly different than the usual running race. Essentially, the competition is to go from Point A to Point B in the shortest amount of time. However, the rules of the race clearly state that one foot should appear to be in contact with the ground all throughout the event.
